CHIPSET
The North Bridge chipset is the heart of the computer since it controls and determines how fast and which type of processor, memory, and slots are used. Another chip on the motherboard is called the South Bridge which controls the ISA bus.
BIOS CHIPSET
The basic input/output system of your computer, also known as the BIOS On pc based computer systems the BIOS makes sure all the other chips, hard drives, ports and CPU function together.
GRAPHICS ADAPTER
The hardware to run graphics is called a graphics card or video card. The bus this card uses to connect to the computer is key to the computer's ability to handle video. Intel develop a bus for graphics called AGP or Accelerated Graphics Port
Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI). It provides direct access to system memory for connected devices, but uses a bridge to connect to the frontside bus and therefore to the CPU.
With a PCI-based graphics card, every texture map has to be stored twice.With AGP only once.
Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus. The improved bus was capable of transmitting information 16 bits at a time, compared to 8 bits on the original ISA bus.
IDE host adapter, it provides a way to connect a device to the computer (host). The actual controller is on a circuit board attached to the Hard drive or CDROM OR DVD. That's the way it's called Integrated Drive Electronics .
