Differentiating Between PCI Form Factors There is an easy method for recognizing which revision of the PCI form factor a board is using by looking at its PCI connector on the bottom. Figure 1 illustrates the differences. Note the position of the “indents” or “notches.” The corresponding must match the notches to fit.
Additionally, Figure 2 (above)
illustrates the basic differences between the slot appearance.
Note the colored slot – Intel makes the hot-swappable slots
identifiable by coloring them. Other
manufacturers' use a similar color scheme to identify a hot-swap or
